Get paid for the work you did.
I review the documentation behind your change orders, pay applications, notices, and RFIs, and flag the gaps while they are still easy to fix.
Ask about a Documentation Risk ReviewThe problem
Good work goes unpaid more often than it should. A change gets cut because the backup is thin. A pay application comes back for support. A notice goes out late, and the change gets harder to recover.
The work was done. The paper did not keep up. That is the gap I work on.
What I review
- Change ordersDoes each change trace to a notice, RFI, or written directive?
- Pay applicationsDoes the backup support each billed amount and percent complete?
- NoticesDid each one go to the right person, on time, with proof of delivery?
- RFIs and key lettersDoes one log tie each question to its answer and its impact?
- Claim-ready recordCould you pull the full file for one change tomorrow?
Who I work with
Small to midsize public construction contractors, especially MEP primes and specialty subcontractors.
USACE, NAVFAC, GSA, and VA projects.
New York City and New York State agencies and authorities.
Every public owner pays against documents. Federal rules are among the strictest, so a file that holds up to a federal contracting officer holds up to a city or state agency too.
How it starts
A fixed-fee Documentation Risk Review of one active project. You share a defined set of records: recent pay applications, a handful of change order packages, selected RFIs, and 90 days of notices and letters. You get a written memo of what is weak, a short list of what to fix first, and a call to walk through it.
If it helps, monthly support keeps each new pay application and change order file in shape.
What I don't do
- Project management, scheduling, or contract administration
- Legal advice, claim preparation, or claims work
- Final submission decisions, which always stay with you
I work in a narrow lane on purpose.
About
I'm Kenneth Levy. I have spent more than 30 years in construction. I managed electrical projects for New York contractors for many years, then founded and ran my own construction company for 13 years. Along the way I saw the same thing again and again: the jobs that hurt were rarely the ones with bad work. They were the ones with a thin file.
I work remotely, by email, shared files, and scheduled calls.
